Sportique is based in the Czech Republic and produces all sorts of creams and ointments for active sports. Every single one of their products are all-naturaland are made with everyday ingredients that you can actually pronounce. Their Century Riding Cream is made from (and smells like) botanicals. With an ingredient list composed of Shea Butter, Olive, Sweet Almond, Wintergreen, and various other fruits and oils, I was interested in how it would stack up against a lab synthesized product.
The truth is, I performed better than an artificial cream but you did have to put up with the smell. It doesn’t smell bad, it just has a very strong botanical aroma. I couldn’t smell it while I was riding but those riding behind me on a head-wind day did notice. A not so nice smell was a small price to pay for a superior natural product that stayed on for hours. Even on sweltering hot august rides, I had no soreness or irritation. The ingredient list also includes anti-fungal and anti-microbial Ozone, so no infections!
Century Riding Cream comes packaged in a 6oz flip top tube. Getting the product out takes a little bit of work as the cream itself is super thick. This really
wasn’t as much as an issue as the flip top snapping off after 3 uses but still irritating.
And for those wondering how much to use… “It’s an ointment, not a marinade.”
Wow Factor-
- All natural
- Works really well, even after long hot rides
- Thick consistency kept it on the chamois, not sloshing around
- Anti-Fungal and anti-microbial
Buyer Beware-
- Smell
- Be careful around the flip top
Final Verdict- An all-natural chamois cream that works better than most.
Price- $20
