If you have kept up on GearTested happenings, you must have read our piece on the Bremont SuperMarine S2000, If not check it out. Bremont pulled out all the stops on the S2000 and did it again on the ALT1 family.
About a month ago, I opened a box from Bremont’s Michael Pearson containing 2 watches in the classic ALT-1 family, the ALT-1C and the ALT-1WT. Both exquisite watches are the powered by the chronometer certified Bremont Modified Caliber 13 movement. The World Timer’s unique bezel made it my personal favorite of the two but the ALT1-C just oozed british luxury. This inspired the GearTested team to partner up with Jaguar on a review of their brand new F-Type, a 2-seater convertible that pairs quite well with the ALT-1C.
The World Timers rotating bezel added a huge amount of functionality into an everyday watch, while the cream colored face of the ALT-1C drew many complements. As always Bremont used high grade leather for the band but even high end English leather took some time to break in. This made wearing the watches for the first week or so a little annoying but hey, good things take time. Bremont did however take the time to ensure the small details were there, namely the signed crown and the finishing on the movement.
- The simple refined lines of the ALT-1 family ooze class without pretentiousness
- The attention to detail is astonishing
- The rotating bezel on the world timer version was a conversation piece
- Prepare for the conversation when someone asks who makes “that awesome watch”
Price- Roughly $5600
